“Since I began attending the group I’m regaining my interest in society, something I lost, when I first started this stuff (drugs) eleven years ago”
We are a peer based support and advocacy group for individuals with a history of hard drug use and street involvement. We practice harm reduction, abstinence is not a requirement for membership. Our members meet to build the capacity of people who use drugs so that their voices can be heard and their lives improved. Members actively contribute to their community through volunteer opportunities and education presentations on their lived experiences.
These are the general guidelines that we as a group follow at our meetings:
We do invite active and former users
We do provide an honorarium
We do ask you what you need
We do protect confidentiality
We are flexible
Don’t be afraid to ask
We don't assume that there is a problem
We don’t require disclosure of health status
We invite everyone
We never give up on each other
