Grateful or Dead pays tribute to retired #YYC harm reduction/Safeworks coordinator, Diane Nielsen

On Nov. 26, Grateful or Dead celebrated the retirement of Safeworks nurse and group facilitator, Diane Nielsen. Diane was the Calgary group's facilitator from the beginning, and she was also one of the first in our city to understand the need for a stronger voice from people with a history of drug use. The mark she left of this community runs deep, and we are very grateful to have known her. Grateful or Dead worked with volunteer Ashley Kascak to create a tribute for this very special woman and let her know just how much she means to us. Please watch:

Check out this training video ft. the members of AAWEAR

AAWEAR members have been involved in the development and production of an online e-learning tool in collaboration with the SHARP Foundation and Alberta Health Services (Safeworks). This scenario based training has been developed for front-line staff working in health and community based organisations supporting  individuals with complex needs. Speakers in the video talk about compassionate judgement-free care and how the harm reduction approach can make a difference for those who need support.
